Camillus CUDA 9" Folding Knife, Quick Release is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from BEAST!!! The Cuda is the best bang for the buck folding knife. I've used it from animal dressing, cutting cardboard, and for cutting 1" diameter tree branches. I've abused this thing, but is still as good as the first day I got it. One thing that Camillus does right, that isn't shown in the picture and that most other manufacturers does wrong, is the extremely low-profile of the clip. I wear mine a lot in my pants pocket, and only about 1/4" is exposed. The only one gripe I do have is on the liner lock. There is a very small spot, about 1 mm in diameter, started to rust after my first wash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive EDC Knife I have to say, Camillus makes some of the best EDC knives you can buy. I have been using the CUDA for over 7 months now for everything from cutting rope to cutting knots out of wood. This knife has done it all for me and then some. I have one complaint, and I have found this to be true on a couple of the newer Camillus knives; the liner lock. With heavy use, the liner lock can get stuck so that the blade becomes a fixed one. While this is not dangerous, it is an equipment failure and should be noted. This is remedied by using a flat-head screwdriver to pull the liner lock back in place. However, the price, the bladesteel, the lightweight and sturdy construction, as well as a good length on the blade makes this knife a real winner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very Serious tool In the 15 years of carrying this knife in the villages and back country of Alaska, I have dressed moose and cut everything from fish to wire. I grew up cutting meat in my dad’s shop where we would wear out a boning knife in a year, and I can’t imagine ever wearing out this blade. I am still amazed at how well it takes and keeps a good working edge. The opening mechanism still works perfectly and I’ve never had a problem with unintended closure. I’d buy another in a heart beat but I can’t imagine living long enough to wear this thing out! The ONLY problem I’ve had is a lost screw from the handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Self Defense Knife Persons who are interested in self defense will find the Cuda to be an effective platform to work with. It uses a similar blade to the defensive close quarters battle technique invented by Colognel Rex Applegate and Detective William Fairbairn. The advantage of the Cuda is in the fact that it is a folder that adopts the fighting technique of a double-bladed fixed blade knife (edged on both sides). The only thing I could think of to improve upon this knife is to design a Cuda II using T-6 aluminum alloy side panels for weight reduction, and making it ambidexterous. As is, the Cuda is an excellent folder and it's nearest market competitor in a similar design costs at least twice as much as it does.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great. Especially for less than $40 new For the price, as in less than $50 . Its better than some of my more expensive knives I've got in the last year or so. Once I got used to opening it ... I liked it more. It did take getting used to. The one big problem I have is the plastic thumb opener. Only time will tell how good or bad it is. After 2 months of every day use now and having to sharpen it 3 times so far. (Not because of poor blade quality, just heavy use) The knife has held up perfectly. I haven't even had to tighten any screws. I like it. Not being charged more for the name on the box or blade is also a good thing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Difficult to open The knife is very solid when opened. It locks solid and has no movement at all. This is what I expect from a quality knife. The problem is that it is difficult to open. The package shows the thumb button and describes it as a "quick release". I found it impossible to open via the quick release thumb button. I had to grab the blade itself and pull it open. This takes two hands to open the knife. This seems to me to be a very poor design. However, once it is open it does the job. I gave it 3 stars for overall quality but docked 2 stars for difficulty in opening.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent EDC Okay so I've had this knife for going on3 years now and it has been amazing. It took about a week of constant play to get it to the point like my knives at as far as the opening goes. This knife will make you learn a few new motions to get the quick release down. When you do though it will become second nature. Opening with the left hand is best done with a quick wrist flip imo, otherwise it is difficult. The blade keeps a great edge even after repeated use. I've used this for just about everything you can think of and love it. It is not the best for very small jobs due to its size. With bigger hands the weight and size are great, some people with smaller hands may have an issue with size/weight but I personally love it. 4.9/5 if I could.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect EDC knife. I work with a CNC router all day cutting out aluminum, plastic, wood, you name it. I use this knife to pry pieces free, debur aluminum, cut paper, among other things. This is the knife I use everyday, and honestly I love it. The titanium coating could be tougher as a lot of mine has been scraped off from the hard use it receives. The edge also won't hold a razors edge effectively, this is fine though since it is a work knife that holds almost that sharp of an edge way longer than a knife in this price range should.

I have looked everywhere and have been unable to find my Cuda. It's a tanto style blade, nine inches overall with a four inch blade. Serial number on blade is ATS-34 USA. Camillus name is not on knife, do you make it? Can I get some info on it?

Asked by: Don22
Thank you for reaching out to us about your Camillus product. Acme United acquired the Camillus brand back in 2007, and we offer a lifetime warranty on products manufactured by our company. Unfortunately, as we were not provided nor have access to parts or information on the products manufactured by the original Camillus Knife Company prior to 2007, we are unable to provide support for these older knives. If you are interested in having your pre-2007 Camillus knife repaired or restored we recommend reaching out to Rock USA Cutlery, a great source of historical information on these older knives. The thumb opener has always been a bit loose on my knife, which is ok according to a previous question, but mine also falls out. I've lost it numerous times, once it was gone for 4 months when I accidentally spotted it in my driveway. How to fix?

Asked by: Yooper
We would recommend filing a warranty claim:

i have this particular knife and am having problems with a quick opening the thumb opener is lose and I need to know how to fix the problem.

Asked by: jimbo
The thumb opener should be a little loose, as this allows you to apply pressure at various angles to the opening mechanism. If the knife is brand new, it might take some extra effort until the pivot breaks in. You will need to apply pressure in a sweeping motion, as if you were drawing the letter C with your thumb starting at the bottom of the letter rather than the top.

What would one of the last cuda damascus prototype knives produced by original Camillus Co. Be worth today?

Asked by: skipper 377
Hello, We would recommend seeing a knife collector or appraiser. There are a few knife shops and around the Camillus, New York are that would e able to give an estimate. Thanks, Carla
