Rated 5 out of 5 by cholmes from Sharp and strong with a convenient gut hook. My first use of this knife came on a free-range elk hunt in south Texas. My friend killed a cow elk and this knife was perfect for skinning and deboning. I had never skinned an elk, but the knife was sharp and held its edge during the whole process. The gut hook made zipping the skin up the belly and down the legs a breeze. It ensured that no cuts were made into the body cavity and certainly lessened the amount of hair that got on the meat. The blade is extremely sharp, yet thick and strong enough to stand up to this elk which was easily over 500 pounds. The comfortable handle is non-slip and did not fatigue my hand during the long skinning process.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Indymojo from Gut Hook 9.5 Camillus Titanium Gut Hook Knife: 4" Blade 9.75" Full Length Titanium Bonded Full Tang 440 Steel Comes with Nylon Sheath Non-Slip Grip Handle Lanyard Hole The gut knife comes with a lifetime warranty The knife seems fine. Good blade and hook. The sheath is fine, not the best but works at protecting blade. Blade is sharp and will have no issue cutting thru hide, filleting small fish, etc. The balance is fine too. Blade will dull quicker than higher end knives. Knife is entry level user. Basically you get what you pay for

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jeepermac from Know the limits of this knife. I carry this knife in my deer hunting pack, I haven't skinned out a deer with it but it works for light camp tasks. The soft grip handle feels great in the hand and I have used it during a rain storm cutting branches in front of my stand. Blade is very thick so it will work well for fine cuts but I would caution against using this as a prying device. Keep it for field dressing but other camp chores not so much. Additionally the nylon sheath is very cheap, I will be replacing it with my leather work for this season.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Halley from Very durable and it works !! I used this knife the last time I went fishing and it earned its place in my fishing bag every once in awhile I have a hard time removing hook from the fish and this was one of those times and I remembered, I had the perfect tool for this right in my bag- which I had forgotten about.. old age.. well I took that out and in no time my worries were gone, that helped me pull that hook out as if it was sitting in butter, it pulled the hook out so quick, I'm glad I had it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Spanaird from Good Skinning Knife Got this a week ago, just skinned my first deer for this hunting season and I can truthfully say this is a fine skinning knife.Sharp blade and gut hook. Handle is made of hard rubber so no grip problems there. It's also rather long so a big hand will easily handle this as will smaller hands. The only reason I gave it four stars is it needs a better sheath with a sharpening stone.Other than that I'm very pleased with the way the knife handles under use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TomF from Great knife, Great Grip This is a great heavy duty knife. I’ve had it with me the past few weeks and it has handled everything I threw at it. The blade is sharp and stout. It comes with a nylon sheath, while not leather, you can tell it is quality made and not cheap. The best feature about this knife is the handle. It has grip for days. Water, blood, sweat it doesn’t matter this handle doesn’t get slippery. All in all. It’s a good, tough knife, with a sharp durable blade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Chuck from Guthook Hunting Knife I’m not a hunter but have heard from others that this does work well in skinning deer. I’m not sure what I’ll use this knife for but chose it to review so here’s what I like about it. The handle feels good in the hand, easy to grip and I imagine unlikely to slip if used in skinning. The titanium coating on the blade looks great. The blade itself is full tang, you can see this when you examine the lanyard hole. The full tang makes me think it’s a strong knife that will it probably last. A full tang isn’t something you always find on a budget knife. The handle is a kind of dessert tan color and looks alright. The only negative I have found so far is that the sheath could cover more of the blade. About a half inch or so of blade near the hilt is exposed and one could cut themselves if they weren’t careful. Again, I’m not a hunter but I imagine this would do the job, comes reasonably sharp and with a lifetime warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brt989 from Nice grip, Quality made Knife. I got this knife to replace one I lost at Blue Mesa reservoir into the deep blue water. (I should of put a lynard on it ) . I am very happy with this Camillus knife . They've been around a long time and back their knifes with a lifetime warranty. But I will be putting a lynard / paracord on this beauty.
