Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Knife! Love this knife. It's a great camping/hunting and all around knife. I have used it at home for breaking down cardboard boxes and various other things. I have also used it to baton firewood at a camp site and feather wood for kindling as well as various other things in the camp. Preparing food...etc. The blade is a good size and stays sharp. The rubber handle has good traction and is comfortable in hand. It has a full tang and seems very sturdy. The sheath is nylon with a snap to secure the knife. It also has a plastic insert to keep you from cutting through the sheath or from pushing the knife through it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice and stout! was looking for something small and compact to carry everyday and everywhere. This knife fits the bill perfect. There are a lot of good knives out there, but a good sheath can make or break a quality knife. The versatility of the sheath make this a good option (being that I am a lefty). The knife itself fits a small to medium hand and is good for small chores but to small for anything major. Hopefully soon there will be a decent review on this knife because it needs one. One thing I did notice is that there is no lanyard tube through the knife. Its just a drilled out hole cut through the micarta and tang. I do not foresee this to be a problem, but it is minor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice purchase The first thing that impressed me about this blade was the thickness and the weight. We all know that when it comes to hacking you want the weight of the tool to do the work for you. The Carn X is not too heavy and not too light. It does the job just fine. The handle on the other hand was kinda disappointing...when I was in the store looking at it I almost passed it up due to the bonded plastic handle but bought it do to the reason I gave above... Great little piece of gear to have in any situation...I made the right decision buying this product By the way, who would hack at tempered glass with an item like this???

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No helicopter to breach The modern tomahawk evolved from the stone blades used by pre-European arrival Algonquian Indians and later the ones used in the late 60's & early 70's by the U.S. military in the Vietnam War. They have a rich history of use as tools and weapons. The Ravenous Hatchet is a descendant of those 'hawks. While I had no helicopters to breach, I used the Ravenous for a camp axe, replacing a heavier conventional hatchet. It performs most camp chores such as limb trimming, firewood splitting and kindling shaving with ease. Lightweight and easier to carry on belt or the outside of a backpack, I found it to very useful and the edge holds up well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from don't judge a book by it's cover Great design, couldn't resist buying it. I gave it 2 stars because the grips were loose and both Allen screws were stripped on one side making it impossible to tighten grips. The sheath is fine, but getting the knife in and out wasn't easy at all, basically have to force it in and out. Sheath does have a plastic lining which is good. Also the blade was not evenly sharpened on both sides. This knife was made in another country which is where all the flaws come from. I'm sure of they made it in USA it would live up to how it looks. Once again it's a great looking knife and the blade seems strong, but the cons are too many to ignore.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall well built and designed First of all, the thing is designed well, from the sturdy clip to the sharp blade. The clip has an outline of a knife laser cut into it, a fun little feature. The handle is of good feel and offers a solid grip. The not so good? Well the blade is prone to partial opening while in my pocket, and then when I go to draw it will drag or snag. The position of the stud is good, but the flip open is just a touch stiff still after two weeks of steady use. This knife is much better than my inexpensive Gerber I replaced, and nowhere near as nice as my Benchmade. Overall it's a very good daily use knife and one which I will use for the foreseeable future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid machete Used the Carnivore X recently to strip branches from a fallen tree and clear some woody brush. Both the primary blade and the saw blade worked effectively on branches and stems up to 2 inches in diameter, with no visible or tangible blade edge deformation after use. Nice heft to it but weight is nonetheless well-distributed, making the Carnivore X easy to swing. The handle felt a little slippery with use despite the textured material, even when used while wearing rubber-palmed work gloves. Remedied the handle issue with some hockey tape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute Beast of a knife!!! I bought the Heathen a couple months ago and I'm overly impressed by the quality of it. It has a nice thickness at 1/8 inch with a well balanced weight. I love the nice powder coating and the micrata handle scales and shape serve for an excellent grip, even while wet. I really like that Camillus made it in the USA and from none other than 1095 (to me, the best all around knife steel.) The knife was razor sharp out of the box, and that beefy tanto blade is a prefect choice to give a strong blade such tough tip.The sheath is of high quailty, as it's made of a thick kydex (better than leather for a high carbon steel. No fats in material to harm the steel.) I really love seeing knives with the Camillus name being made in the USA again!
